While dragtronics has performers in mind, all are welcome!Dragtronics: Bubblemania - learn how to take apart bubble guns to make ANYTHING blow bubbles! This workshop will introduce the basics of circuits, soldering, and how to begin taking apart electronic toys to use the interesting parts. All supplies will be provided, and attendees will leave with their own bubble-blowing object. While the dragtronics series is designed with nightlife performers and applications in mind, you don't have to be a performer to enjoy this workshop -all are welcome! This class is for all levels and geared towards beginners in circuit hacking and electronics. We'll cover the basics of circuits and soldiering in this project! Your Instructors: Kay is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and creative technologist based in Brooklyn, NY. They are a graduate of NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications graduate program, where they focused on wearable electronics and human-computer interaction. Kay has been working as a freelance costume designer since 2018, and their costume work has been seen onstage at Bonnaroo, King of Drag, and on 'Whatcha Packin' for RuPaul's Drag Race S16. Kay is passionate about making education around technology accessible, and is the co-creator of the Dragtronics workshop series, along with Priyanka Makin. Priyanka Makin is a computer engineer and multidisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of identity and nature through motors, materials, and humor. She's a SparkFun Electronics alum, graduate of the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU, and a 2025 Open Hardware Summit Fellow. This is a masks optional event.
