We’ll experiment with pairing Hydra code with music, a process known as livecoding. Livecoding is a medium & subculture built on community info sharing & open source code development. You can learn it for your own enjoyment, for performance at dance parties and more! Anyone can do it, no coding experience required. Each participant will leave with their own custom code that can be used for other projects. Note: We will have a short 10 minute break in the middle of the class for accessibility! This is a sliding scale workshop, please email us at classes@nycresistor.com for a reduced priced ticket. Please bring a laptop with Chrome & Firefox browsers downloaded, along with the Youtube link to a song you want to make code inspired by. A tablet with a Bluetooth keyboard & Chrome is also acceptable. If you need a laptop, we can provide one! No coding experience needed. Sabrina Sims is a Black Puerto Rican bi artist from the Bronx! She loves creating vibrant art and started livecoding in Hydra in 2021. Sabrina performs livecoding as starlybri, in NYC and online. Her teaching artist work focuses on creating accessible art experimentation, especially for other Black queer & disabled people :) This is a masks REQUIRED event. As with all NYC Resistor events, this class is 18+ and governed by our Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct, as well as accessibility information, can be found at www.nycresistor.com/participate/.
